Quantitative Analysis

To further illustrate the differences between translations, I input the texts into a textual analysis tool called Voyant.

As you can see, the vocabulary density of the translations decreased over time as they became clearer and more in line with modern use of language. The 1888 translation of “Boaz Asleep” has a vocabulary density of .600 compared to the 2002 translation which has a density of only .479. The translations grew longer but easier to understand.
